Y4 Maths task- 27th April
Good morning everyone and happy Monday!
I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and have been enjoying the sunshine.
Today in maths, you are going to be carrying on your work on area.
Remember the area is how much is the middle. (Perimeter is the fence around the outside and the area is how much grass inside).
You know that to find the area of a shape you need to multiply the length by the width so for the shape below you would calculate 5cm x 3cm= 15cm2.
Today you are going to be finding the area of a compound shape. A compound shape is two shapes put together. To calculate the area you need to find the area of each individual shape and add the two areas together to find the total area. I have done an example for you below. Remember to add the two areas not multiply them.
