Friday 3rd April – Year 6

English:

Watch the clip from yesterday again:

https://www.literacyshed.com/megacity.html

Think about the time that we read War Horse and the fact that the whole story was from Joey’s point of view. I would like you to write a story based on this clip, from the dog’s point of view. I would like to hear the dog’s story and what he thinks of all of this.

Maths:

Solve this problem:

Sam had 5 times as many marbles as Tom. If Sam gives 26 marbles to Tom, the two friends will have exactly the same amount. How many marbles will they have altogether?

PHSE:

We have now been out of school and limited to our houses for 2 weeks and I imagine that during this time, you have thought of lots of things that you would rather be doing. I want you to start a post-lockdown list of things that you would like to do when you can again. These could be things related to family, friends, school or something else. You could write a list or you could make something more creative.

Things you might include:

– join a new club (try to be specific)

– have a sleepover with …

– Visit ….

– Learn how to ….

Extra task:

Here is an extra task that you could do over the weekend or the holidays.

As you know, we are all stuck inside and some people are feeling very lonely, especially the elderly that live in a care home and aren’t allowed visitors at the moment.

I would like you to write them a letter, card, poem or create them a drawing to let them know you are thinking of them and give them some virtual company.

You could send these to someone you know in a care home, a care home close to your house or you could follow this link to find someone to write to:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/thecheerfullittleletterproject/?ref=share

Some things you could include in your letter:

– introduce yourself including what you enjoy doing etc

– tell them what you have been doing during the lockdown i.e. have you been at school, home school learning etc

– how you feel about everything that is happen

Remember if you are going to ask the person to write back, ask questions.

Have a good weekend and come back on Monday for some Easter challenges!!!

Today, we made very little money. Not even enough to fill just a centimetre of the jar. Me and my owner have been saving up for our dream: an extraordinary dream. To go to the countryside and live happily there for the rest of our lives. No cars driving around anymore, no people pushing and shoving, you could just say the countryside is better.

The next few days, we made more and more money-the money filled up the jar halfway. Soon we were going to leave the city and make our dream come true. It is our last day outside and fingers crossed we make at least £1.00. No-one was coming for the first 15 minutes and then something happened. A person walked past and dropped a £1.00 in ; that pound was all we needed.

Now we are in the countryside, it is better than I ever imagined. I looked at my owner and he looked back at me he whispered, “Go on the grass than. You deserve this!” I put on paw on at a time and it was the first time I ever touched the grass. I loved it!

I can’t believe that every single person is ignoring him and to see my owner be very sad it makes me feel sad to so every day I would run to get a penny when one falls out of someone’s pocket. I would catch it in the hat. He finally got the the thing he wanted and I was happy and he was happy too. And he didn’t ask anyone for money he worked for it and that’s why I am proud of him today.

They will have 156 together because 5 times 26 is 130 so 130 add 26 is 156 that’s how I got my answer.

    HI…,
Like always, he picks up his wooden guitar and steps out on to the cobble stone floor. I follow him through the rowdy people , then we go and stand in our little corner(our usual place),then he starts. But when he does, it brings life well I feel it does the rushing workers don’t ;that’s why they don’t have life , because they don’t feel life. At all. It makes me sad to see his little figure standing in the cold ,freezing but still performing! I always wish I could do something, but I am a dog.

A few weeks went by and our jar was half way full! He grinned , I leaped onto him then he laid back and smiled.

The next morning, the jar was full! We got into a brand new, red ,shinning motorbike and drove away from the horrible ,dirty city and into the country side. Playful I jumped of the bike and played with him all day!

    The END

    Maths:
    5x – 26 = x + 26
    – x both sides
    4 x – 26 = 26
    add 26 to both sides
    4 x = 52
    52 ÷ 4 = 13
    13 × 5 = 65 – 26 =39 add 39 =78
    Altogether 78 marbles

I am happ, because every day we make less money, but my friend is working hard to make us go to a better place . But a few days later we make the bottle full of money. It was hard but we didn’t give up, when we started it was like it will never be full because every day we got less than one pound.

Later, the great job, we sudenly got what we wanted. Today was the greatest day of my live because we were in a good place at a good time.
