Year 3 – Wednesday 1st April

Good morning all!

There are no tasks for today.

APRIL FOOLS!

Haha! We got you!

MISS LINDOP ACCEPTED THE VERY IMPORTANT MISSION!!

Yesterday, Miss Lindop (with the help of her little brother Jude) drew a wonderful rainbow for an elderly person.
Miss Lindop then went to her nearest post box and popped it in so it could be sent to hopefully make someone very happy.
She hopes you will also join in with this mission.
If you do, send us your photos!

The full details are on Monday’s blog post.

Enjoy your day!

Here are your tasks:

Writing

Gather some useful information on volcanoes.
These websites might help:

https://www.natgeokids.com/uk/discover/geography/physical-geography/volcano-facts/

https://www.weatherwizkids.com/weather-volcano.htm

http://www.primaryhomeworkhelp.co.uk/mountains/volcanoes.htm

Once you’ve gathered as much information as possible. Now’s the time to write an explanation text.

Remember to include all of the key features we have spoken about. When you’re finished, write a fun fact about volcanoes in the comments.

Maths

This is a reminder that you can practice your times tables at: https://ttrockstars.com/

Your username and password are in your packs.

You also have lots of worksheets to complete in your home learning packs.

Answer these questions in the comments:

  1. Sally has 2m of string. Frank has 3m and 87cm of string. How much string do they have altogether?
  2. Dave has a garden that is 50m long. He wants to share it with his friend Steve. How many metres of garden do they each have?

Thinking point:

Write your answers in the comments.

Science

Watch this video:

  1. What is a magnet?
  2. What metals are attracted to a magnet?
  3. What are the two poles on the magnet called?
  4. What also behaves like a magnet?

Finished all of that? Want something else to do?

British Sign Language:

Every day at 1pm, Natasha and her sister will be teaching the nation some British Sign Language on Youtube.

They started last week, so you might want to catch up on those videos before you join in today.

Follow this link to find her Youtube channel and click on her video’s called ‘Learn Beginners British Sign Language’

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9w889Lid1JHB-AX4dCoQoQ

BSL is an important skill that you may need to use one day, even if it is just the basics.

Spanish:

You’ve had a go at numbers and the alphabet, feel free to go back to these. If you want to, here’s a video that will help you learn some of the colours in Spanish.

Story time:

Want to do some reading but have read all of your books at home?

No problem! Listening to a story is just as good as reading one.

    Maths:

    1) Sally has 2m of string. Frank has 3m and 87cm of string. How much string do they have altogether?

    2m + 3m 87cm = 5m 87cm
Sally and Frank have 5m 87cm of string altogether.

    2) Dave has a garden that is 50m long. He wants to share it with his friend Steve. How many metres of garden do they each have?

    50 m divided by 2 = 25m to check 25m x 2 = 50m

    2 x 10 = 20
    2 x 20 = 40

    50 – 40 = 10
    10 divided by 2 = 5
The answer is: Dave and Steve will each have 25m of garden.
