Reception Learning Week Commencing 12th July

It is amazing to think that the Reception children have now completed their first full year at school.  Despite the lockdowns and closure, the cohort has done remarkably well and we feel that they are ready for Year One.  The Year One team told us that they had a lovely day with their new classes and the children reported that they had a great day too!

We had Sports Day on Monday – most was inside and it was all hands to the deck so unfortunately we did not take many photos – sorry!  However, hopefully, the children told you that despite the weather they still had a good time.  We managed to get out onto the field yesterday to do some running races too.

As it was Sports Day we have learnt about sports this week – in particular looking at particular athletes that are also role models in society – Jessica Ennis-Hill, Marcus Rashford, Ellie Simmons and Freddie Flintoff.  We learnt the words competition, athlete, sport and role-model.

On Monday we have a Race for Life – please send children into school in their PE kits or in pink.  Please see how you can donate on this week’s newsletter.  On Tuesday we have a mufti day where children can wear their own clothes.

We are sending their books home tonight so we hope that you will enjoy looking through these with your children and that they will remember all the learning that we have done at school.  I am sure that you will all be amazed at the progress that they have made over the year.  We hope that you have a lovely summer and will see you back at school in September.

Kind regards

The Reception Team
