Wednesday 3.2.2021 Year 3

We are half way through another week. Some wonderful work going on Year 3 and we couldn’t be more proud of you. YEAR 3 ROCKS!!😎

Wednesday 3

Above are headlines from ripped newspapers and they are all about our play we have been exploring, Midsummer Night’s Dream. Can you work through each headline and explain what it means from what we know about the play?

WRITING: What has happened now? Watch the video below:

A love triangle, in the forest  – it looks like Puck has placed the juice in the wrong man’s eyes. He has placed the juice in Lysander (Otto)’s eyes and now he loves Helena (Emilia) and Hermia (Paris). Puck was ordered by Oberon to place the juice in the man’s eyes who was arguing with Helena. OOOps! So now the love potion has made Lysander love two ladies  – Helena and Hermia – WHAT A MESS!

You are going to plan your own newspaper report about what has happened here. Use the plan below to help you. Keep your plan as you will need it for tomorrow.

Maths Skills:  This is a fun game, you can test yourself with doubles or times tables or whatever you fancy.

PSHE/ Well being:

This week we are focussing on ‘confidence.’ Remember we are looking for a child from each class who deserve the certificate where we have seen ‘confidence’ been shown.

To begin with try out this Cosmic Yoga video ‘ Rainbow of confidence.’ Listen carefully as you join in with the session.  We are looking at positive affirmations (positive thoughts and feelings about yourself) to show ‘it is good to be me,’ and help build your confidence.  Think about your positive affirmations as you complete the cosmic yoga for the next activity.

Once you have completed yoga, we would like you to create your own rainbow and on the clouds you can add your positive affirmations  (positive words and phrases) about you (at least 10 clouds). Be creative you can paint, draw or create a hanging mobile like the picture below. This is your rainbow of confidence.

TIME to TALK:

SCIENCE: Fossils

Last week a four year old girl found a 220-million- year-old  unknown dinosaur footprint whilst out walking.

Go to DK find out, it is all about fossils.

https://www.dkfindout.com/uk/dinosaurs-and-prehistoric-life/fossils/

Create a fact file using the information.

    Writing
Who is involved:Puck Hermia Helena Lysander
Where are they: they are in the wood
When did it happened: then you wake up
What happened: Puck has used the purple flower to make a love potion and he
squeeze the love potion on Lysander so Lysander loves Hermia and Helena.

Write down 2 pieces of speech:
1-“I love you and her”said lysander.
2-“But I love demetruis” said Helena.

Write down three facts (the 4 lovers, the purple flower and Puck):
1-Helena loves demetruis, Hermai loves lysander demetruis loves Hermia.
2- The purple flower can be used to make a love potion.
3-Puck was supposed to put the love potion on demetruis so demetruis will love Helena.

Write down three thoughts about what you have seen:
1- It is messed up because puck squeeze the love potion on lysander .
2- It was silly because lysander love Hermia and Helena.
3- Oberon will be very angry so Puck needs to get rid of the one that he put on and get another one and put on the rigth person.

One hundred years ago there were toilets just like ours. It was the 1920’s, a time of decadence and frivolity. War was over and people were trying to recover from the horrors. Art Deco was the movement which influenced art, design and fashion.
