Year 2 Home Learning – Wednesday 13th January
Good Morning Year 2
We know it’s a little bit different learning from home, but we are here if you need any help. We know you can do this!
Remember we have a zoom register at 10.20am every morning. It is important you log in to this promptly so that we can say good morning to each other, give you instructions for today’s learning, complete our Phonics lesson as well as working through our Reading and Writing activities together.
A link for this has been sent to the parent email you have registered at school. Please email us at the Year 2 email address if you need a new link sending to you.
Please bring paper and a pencil/pen to the zoom register.
Please remember to comment on the blog when you have completed your tasks, and to email us your completed work so we can see what you have been doing and support you if needed. Work can be emailed via your pupil email address (details were issued last term) or via a parents email address to email@example.com.
Have a great day and we will be waiting for you when we can all go back to school together!
Miss Duncan, Miss Battams and the rest of the Year 2 team.
Here is your home learning for today.
English – Reading
Read the text which compare the two different forests. You need to decide would you like to go to one of the forests or not?
Which one do you think you would prefer to go to and why? Write down a sentence based upon the text to tell us if you would like to go, which would you choose to visit and the reason for your choices. You should use capital letters, full stops and evidence from the text to support your answer.
Below is a video reading the text for you.
English – Writing
Re-read the text from this morning. Can you identify the similarities and differences between the two forests?
Write these down which things are the same and which are different.
See how many things that are the same or different you can find. There is an example on the video to get you started.
Below is a video explaining the task
(Include 2 common exception words)
|New sound to be covered
|Read the word –
‘say the sounds, read the word’
|Build/Write the words
‘Say the sounds, write the word’
‘not cat ..bat’
Teacher say whole sentence and children repeat (my turn, your turn).
|WEDS||Quickly, neatest, mostly, cheapest, everyone, any||Year 1 sound / spelling recap
|Me, we, be ,
Thief, equal, fielder
|The chief can delay the delivery to the thief in the field.|
Below is a video saying the sounds and words clearly.
Watch the video, complete the tasks explained and then solve the following problems.
Warm up: Wiggle your fingers up high, down low, to the side and in front of you.
Stretch your fingers out like fireworks twelve times.
Can you write the following KS1 words? Remember to leave a finger space.
Tick your neatest formation and be proud of your handwriting.
Watch the following video about how Muslims pray.
Prayer is an important part of Islam.
Design a prayer mat that is full of important and special places/things/people to you.
Miss Duncan has recorded a story for story time today. Its called ‘Monkey and Mango Island’. Its a funny story about a cheeky monkey. We hope you enjoy it.
We have an online log in which will link to some ebooks that follow our reading scheme in school. These books will allow your child to practice their phonics skills. It is a free resource.
Follow this link to log in: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/?selLanguage=en&mode=hub
Go to Oxford Owl for Home and click on enter site.
This will give you the option to choose a book recommended for your age or you can choose a book from the colour you read at school.
These are all free to read and it would be great if you could read one to someone at home.
Remember to leave us a comment on the blog to share your learning or you can email it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to seeing your work!
