Year 2 Home Learning – Friday 4th December

Hi Year 2!

We hope you have a great day.

Here are today’s learning activities:

English
Reading –

Look at the picture.

Predict what you think what happens next using the sentence opener ‘I predict…’

How do you know? Can you make any links to any reading you have done before?

Writing –

Using the pictures and your writing from this week,  write a story about the character and the setting. This is your chance to be an author.

Who is in your story? Do they have a name? Where is the story set? What happens? What is the problem? How is it resolved? What type of ending does it have? Cliffhanger? Happy?

This about what you need to include for your writing to be exciting and to keep your reader entertained.

What words will you uses to describe the character or setting? How are things moving? How are you going to link sentences together instead of just using ‘and’? Can you use any different punctuation?

Sounds-Write Phonics – suffixes/endings of words (-ment, -ness, -ful, -less)

PHONICS Recap words

(Include 2 common exception words)

New sound to be covered Read the word –

‘say the sounds, read the word’

Build/Write the words

‘Say the sounds, write the word’

Sound swap

‘not cat ..bat’

Dictation

Teacher say whole sentence and children repeat (my turn, your turn).

Friday could, again, one, sugar, door, because suffixes/endings of words (-ment, -ness, -ful, -less) harmless, colourless, painless, restless  endless, spotless, speechless, useless  friendless – friend – end – endless – bendless – bend

Stretch your fingers out like fireworks twelve times.

Art:

Look at the artwork – what do you notice?

These are still life paintings.

Collect objects, no more than 4, from around your home. Create your own still life artwork using any resource you have (colouring pencils, felt tips e.t.c.)

On a tall rock there was an old and ugly house where lived an evil witch. She was a bad person and planned to put a spooky spell on people to make them as house pets. But people set a trap in the forest. They got the witch inside an invisible prison where she could not use her powers.
