Wednesday 15th July 2020 – Writing Task

Good morning Year 4,

You are going to use your plans from yesterday to write an art critique. If you have not done the plan, look back at yesterday’s blog for writing and use questions and painting to help you write the critique.
Features you need to include in your art critique:

  • use the four headings to write in paragraphs/ make sure you use the headings. LOOK, ANALYSE, THINK, IMAGINE
  • make sure you write in first person
  • use different conjunctions to join sentences (because, but, if, when)
  • Try using different openers other than I. Try using fronted adverbials. For example: At the top of the painting, In the forgeound, Looking at the…,
  • expanded noun phrases, be specific to describe the nouns you see.
You can handwrite, send a photo to our email or use the headings and write in the comments in full sentences.

    Look
It is near the end of summer as the leaves are dark green. In the foreground there are some animals pulling a hay wain. In the backround there are clouds flying around. On the left there’s a man entering the cottage. On the right there are bush leaves swaying. The horizon isn’t clear but it’s covered by trees’. I do not like the painting as it is old-fashioned and I am fan of modern. No I would not like to be put into the painting as I will have to work hard. I would put myself onto the field as I could play some field games there.
    Analyse
The brush strokes are layered and detailed. I see lines that show the river and are moving to the left. I see the colours of white, blue, green, brown and peach and yes they do. I see the shapes of a cuboid, a circle, a cilynder and a sphere.
    Think
I think the most important person is the man that is on the hay wain because he is doing the work. I beleive it is around the 80’s as they did not use a vehicle as we do in the XXI century. Both of the people are looking at an animal (The person on the hay wain is looking at the dog and the man near the house is looking at the cat). I think the artist painted the painting so we could see what happened in his times.
    Imagine
The man on the hay wain could get paid for the hay that he has delivered. If this was a story the, before the person could have been hired. If I could display it anywhere in the would display it at the international galleries because it mast have took years to paint this. No, I would not hang it in my house as. 1) As I would like other people to see this. 2) I like modern not posh.

I can See green grass and trees in a field next to a cottage. And I also see a horse pulled cart with a dog watching the horses.

    Analyse
I can see straight lines and two curved lines going to the left so they can make a small river. There are some small triangles that make a roof of the cottage, squares for the walls of it and long sharpe ones for the horse pulled cart.

    Think
I think the mum/dad is the most important because they keep the house running. I like the painting because it makes a story and without the texture there is no story. I also like it because it is a happy moment.

    Imagine
I would put it inside so it’s not going to be wet when it rains. I will put it in my room to remind me of a nice day in summertime. I would love to be in green field to run around in and play games in.

    LOOK
It is a long time ago since there is wooden houses .There are men getting cattle so that they can move the cows. All that is happening in the background is some trees swaying. Just trees swaying. On the right there are men with cattle and some cows. In the horizon there is just some trees. I do not like this painting because there is nothing fun about it. I would like to be in the field. I would be in the background because i can play football and bring my ball there and my mini goals.

    ANYLYSE
The strokes are sidewayes and it is very this brush strokes. The lines i can see is for people houses cattle and cows. I can see white grey black and yellow. I can only see squares and rectangles

    THINK
The cat is the most important person in this painting because the painting has no life without it. After the dinosaurs since there is not much in this painting. The people are looking at the cows. He has painted this for fun really!

    IMAGINE
The guy dies because he is to old and there is a ceremony. The guy gets lucky and a lady gave him the job. I would display this painting in my GARAGE. NO this is to boring snd because there is nothing FUN about it

    Look:
The trees are telling me that it is autumn since there are dark clouds as well. This means that there is a mild weather. In the foreground there is a cart which is travelling through the flooded street while a dog is watching this cart but this is funny. The stormy clouds are passing through the small village. On the left, some sticks and branches are falling on houses and when the water is getting closer to the door steps it gets wet. On the right, the water level is rising and some people are getting ready to leave. The weather that no one want’s is on its way. On the horizon, the weather as the bright weather is going away and the dark weather is coming. Yes, I do like his painting because I like how accurate he is with the painting. I would not like to be there since all the streets are flooded and it’s not safe to be there. If I was there, I would be in the house because there is caution of high winds for humans.

    Analyse
The brush strokes are dabbed because nothing can be straight in human kind. The lines are like little bit rough lines and they are showing like what is going to be happening in the time being. The directions are moving as the wind are but the clouds are taking over. The colours that I can see can see various colours when in the painting including green, blue, brown, white, black and red. The shapes that I can see is cuboid- the cart, cube-if the house, cone- the trees and a cylinder- huts.

    Think
The most important person is the one in the cart when going down because it is important how he is going down. The period is before 2010 but in the 1900’s the weather would have been like that with no path for rain water to go anywhere. The people are looking at the mild weather because the storm is approaching. The artist painted this because he might remember him of his child hood since this is for his child hood If it was.

    Imagine
In my imagination, the storm had come then some of the houses would had been destroyed but it would not happen. If It was a story it seems like that when there was a storm which flooded all the roads and water everywhere. In the living room, I will display this as the painting is full of nature and beautiful colours. I would put it in our house. I would display this, because this photo shows the beautiful nature.

    Look:
1.Looking at the painting, I can tell what time of the year it is, because of the painting’s landscape and I think it’s around 1984 and it’s end of the summer.
2.Someone is doing their farming job because they’re doing something like a worker at a farm would do.
3.On the left side of the painting, there’s a dog and a house. I can see a river and trees, massive clouds and fields in the background. The trees are reflected in the water.
4.The dog is observing, and the house is standing.
    5. I see someone is doing their job. There is a hidden boat and a fisherman on the right.
6.There are clouds on the horizon and trees trying to gently nudge the horizon.
7.I like this painting, because it has more nature than the other one, that we saw last time ‘At the docks’. The weather is very nice in this painting, plenty of sunshine and the water has got so many colours.
8.I like the painting, because I like farms,I like animals, nature and a little river.
9.I would be swimming, because I like swimming in lakes.
    Analyse
1.I think the textures of this are short, thin, dotted and broad.
2.I can see the house’s lines and the rivers lines are blurry, they are going diagonally and up to bottom.
    3. The colours vary, I can see mostly green a little piece of blue another little piece of orange paint an the mood is happy and sad.
4.The shapes that can be spotted in the painting are Rectangles, circles and a square.
    Think
1.The person in the wagon riding on the river is the most visible, because its the closes person in the painting.
2.1984 around that time because its the fashion typical for this period. The fisherman has a quite modern hat on his head, however the men on the cart are dressed in a rustic style.
    3. The dog is looking at the people in the middle of the painting, the people on the wagon are looking at each other probably talking, one of them is pointing to the left side of the painting, which may suggest this is the way they’re going to go.
    4. The painter created his masterpiece to capture the village’s life and people’s everyday lives. He focused his attention to detail, especially by showing us the river in a different light, there is a reflection of the trees in the water, you can even see the water moving where the wheels are.
    Imagine
    1. What can happen next, I would think is that the dog would bark and would try to get closer to the people, the fisherman might catch a fish and the people in a cart would move further to the left.
    2. I believe what happened before was the men just arrived to this area and the dog came to greet them.
    3. I would display this painting in the gallery, if I have it at home I would display it in the living room.
    4. I would definitely put this painting in my house as I like nature and it’s very pleasant painting.

    Look
Its summer or spring as Its sunny and the leaves are green and the sun is shining. In the foreground there is a horse carried cart driving through a flood and wet mud.In the background there is a house and a field and nothing is really happening but than waving trees. On the left there is a running dog swaying trees and a brick house and grey stained glass. On the right side there is swaying grass an trees and a horse drawn wagon with wooden sturdy wheels. At the horizon there is nothing but swaying trees and fluffy clouds and a blue sky.I do like the painting but could use some upgrades on the texture and design and change the brush stroke.I would not like to be in that painting and the wind could be strong like tornado and could get soaked. If I was in the picture I would be in the house for shelter and be away from the people.

    Analyse.
The brush strokes are thin as he as put a lot of detail to get just the right texture.I can see wavy, detailed and strait lines in the picture that I can see.I can see brown, blue, black and white and they do mix with the mood that is all I can work out.I can see wavy rectangles, circles, triangles and irregular shapes if that’s true.

    Think.
The most important person is the one who is driving as he knows were to go and should have a map to double check. The time should be 1645 as the texture looks like it’s from that time and could be hard to work out the colours. The people could be looking at the flood and thinking what happened here I did hear heavy rainfall. The artist could of painted this to celebrate the end of the flood and it could of been a special event.

    Imagine.
The flood could evaporate and the streets will be back to normal but very wet.It probably rained a lot and made the flood and before that it could have been peaceful and no water on the street.I would hang it it a very special room to keep it safe with a password protected door.If I had the money I would as it is very valuable and hard to get.
