Home Learning Monday 6th July 2020

Good morning Year 2!

It’s the start of another week and what an exciting week we have ahead!

PARENTS – PLEASE CHECK THE EMAIL ADDRESS YOU HAVE REGISTERED WITH SCHOOL.

YOU WILL BE RECEIVING IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING TRANSITION AND CLASSES FOR NEXT YEAR THROUGH THE EMAIL ADDRESS YOU HAVE ON RECORD WITH SCHOOL TODAY.

Here is your home learning for today. Don’t forget to email us your work or leave us a comment to show us what you have been doing.

Miss Battams and Miss Duncan.

English

Read the piece of text below and answer the comprehension questions.

Can you create a postcard that you could send to your family pretending that you are visiting Antarctica? What would you tell them about the setting, what you saw, what you did and how you felt? You should use punctuation, finger spaces and your best handwriting. You should also use your phonics to help with your spellings.

Maths

This week there is another maths mystery for you to solve! This one is about a trip to the zoo. Read the text to start the story and then answer one clue each day to find the culprit.

Use the grid with all of the children’s names on below each day to cross off the clues and help you solve the mystery.

Here is the maths task that will give you today’s clue. Good luck!

Common Exception Words.

We need to practice these words to make sure we can read and spell them ready to move into year 3. Below are all the words you need to be able to read and spell. Remember, some must start with capital letters for them to be spelt correctly so be careful!

Complete the bingo game below to help you remember these words.

Story.

Don’t forget to keep completing your summer reading challenge!

Here is a link to a story for you to enjoy. This was one of my favourite stories when I was at school so I hope you enjoy it too!

    Antarctica is furthest south.
Emperor penguins and orcas live in Antarctica.
They huddle together to keep warm.
They have a layer of fat.
    Orcas are called killer whales.

Today’s maths clue. they are tall.
