Home Learning Tuesday 23rd June 2020

Good morning Year 2! We are really missing having you in school with us but we are so proud of all the hard work you have been doing at home. Please keep leaving comments on the blog posts and emailing your work to us at yeartwo@lingsprimary.org.uk. We love to see what you have been doing.

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Miss Battams and Miss Duncan.

English Reading

Read the text below and answer the questions. Make sure you read the questions carefully and only choose the information from the text you need. There will be a different part of the story each day.

  1. Why does Leopard tell Ronald he can’t be a leopard as well?
  2. Using evidence from the text, give one reason why Ronald is sad.
  3. What do you think it means to let out a wail?
  4. Where is Python sitting? Remember to use the text not the picture to help find the right answer!
  5. What does Python see Ronald doing? You should use the words from the text in your answer.

Maths

Firstly, my apologies! I forgot to post the pictogram and questions for you to be able to solve yesterday’s clue! I have attached yesterday’s maths task below

with today’s so that you can complete it to find the answer.

We are carrying on with our maths mystery adventure today! You need to solve the clues each day to find the answer to the mystery! They’ll be a different part each day for you to complete. Feel free to email us if you need any help.
You will need to use the grid below with the names of the gnomes on each day to cross off or write down the gnomes who aren’t the naughty one! If you solved yesterday’s clue then today’s clue will give you some more that you can cross off.

This was yesterday’s task.

Here is today’s clue. You will need to find lines of symmetry. This means you can cut something in half and it will be exactly the same on both sides. The cut can go in any direction but it must make both parts the same.

Common Exception Words.

Here are a couple of common exception words practices for you to complete. It is really important we can read and spell these year 2 words ready for moving on into year 3.

PE.

This week is the start of the Lings Virtual Sports Day week! Today is day 4. You can earn house points by completing today’s task at home and sending your scores and videos to the year two email or to PE@lingsprimary.org.uk.
For more information, videos of each day’s task and to get your score sheet for the week, please see the seperate post on the Year 2 blog page. Good luck!!

Story time.

It would be great if you could continue to read and take part in the School’s Summer Reading Challenge that is being run by the local libraries. For more information or to register please go to https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/

You might also like to pick a book at home that you could read as practising your reading skills will be very useful for when we come back to school.

WRITE YOUR OWN SHORT STORY USING THE WORDS:

    1. Parents 2. Christmas 3. Everybody 4. Even

It was Christmas day, my parents woke up early and was very happy. Everybody was at the breakfast table, importantly my brother and sister had the same amount of presents which made it even.
