Year 2 Home Learning – Friday 22nd May

Hi Year 2

Today is the last day of term.

Next week will be a week off where you and the grown up who have been helping you can relax and have fun!

Here are today’s learning activities.

English – Reading

Look at the picture.

What do you know is happening?

What do you infer (think) is happening?

Predict what happens next?

Write your responses in full sentences using conjunctions.

English – Writing

Today you are going to edit your letter writing from yesterday.

Read your writing back.

Have you included:

  • Capital letters
  • Full Stops
  • Finger Spaces
  • Question Mark – if you have included a question
  • Adjectives
  • Adverbs
  • Conjunctions
  • Address
  • Who it is written to
  • Opening Sentence
  • All of the ideas on your plan/ideas sheet
  • Who it is from

Using a different colour pencil/pen (like a school with our purple pens), go back through your writing and see what you have included and what you can improve.

Remember editing is to make your work go from being good to amazing. It doesn’t mean you ‘got things wrong’ but that it helps you remember the details for next time

Sounds – Write Phonics (‘ed’ and ‘ing’ endings)

Review Read the following Year 2 words – both, who, clothes, people, break, sure.

The Samaritan was very kind and caring.
I have learnt that you shouldn’t ignore people when they are hurt.
We can show more kindness by helping each other when people need help.

I know that they’re on a walk and the boy is wearing wellies.
I infer that they are splashing in puddles, and that they are on their daily walk.
I predict that they are going to find a squirrel and the dog chases after it then they go home.
