Year 3 – Wednesday 20th May 2020

Good morning everyone!

Thank you again for joining in with and completing the daily tasks on the blog.

If you are having a go at the tasks on paper or in books then do let us know what you’ve completed by commenting at the bottom of the page or email us some pictures of your work on yearthree@lingsprimary.org.uk

You might be in with a chance of a certificate tomorrow!

Here are today’s tasks:

SPECIAL TASK:

On Thursday this week there’s going to be a worldwide attempt to break a Guinness World Record.

We want you to join in with this!

With adult help, follow the link below for more information on the attempt at the record.

It’s something different and all you need to do is get an adult to register with an email and be ready for an arty world record on Thursday afternoon.

Writing:

Grab yesterdays plan and remind yourselves what you are going to be writing about today.

You might want to flick through the PowerPoint again to help you.

Below are some other resources that might help you with writing.

Remember capital letters, full stops, speech marks, paragraphs, exciting adjectives, conjunctions and most importantly create suspense and tension!

They should be between 1 and 2 pages long.

We can’t wait to read your stories.

Science:

Watch this video. Once you’ve watched it you need to come up with a list of things that humans do that have both a positive and negative impact on the environment.

For example: pollution, littering, deforestation, littering, animal conservation, growing your own vegetables.

After that, you can create a poster encouraging people to take care of our plants and nature using this list.

Finished? Have a go at these activities too…

Daily Riddle:

This week we are going to be posting a riddle a day. The answers will be revealed the next day so you need to check each day to see if you got it right. Involve everybody you can and see who is correct!

Yesterday’s answer: An egg has to be broken before you can use it.

Here is today’s riddle:

What lives in winter, dies in summer, and grows with its roots upwards?

Spot the Difference:

Have a go at this spot the difference. There are 8 differences today.  We will post the answers tomorrow, just like we do with the riddle.

Today’s problem:

Hit the button:

We play this game in class all of the time, see how many of your times tables facts you can get right in 1 minute. Remember, in Year 3 you should know your 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times tables.

Story time:

Want to do some reading but have read all of your books at home?

No problem! Listening to a story is just as good as reading one.

This week we are going to continue listening to a few chapters from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory each day, if you missed last week you’ll need to go back and catch up. If you miss a day you’ll need to catch up too.
