Reception Home Learning – Tuesday 19th May

Hello

So yesterday we listened to Bob The Artist story which inspired some of you to draw and paint in the style of Matisse!  I am so impressed – here are Zanti and Robert’s pictures inspired by Matisse.

Keep up the great work.

Remember there is a World Record attempt on Thursday where children’s book illustrator, Rob Biddulph, will be doing an online art lesson for COVID-19 charities. Details are here is you want to sign up – https://www.artworldrecords.com/

Speaking

In the book, Bob visits an Art Gallery and sees all these pictures handing on the wall.  Have a look at the pictures and tell your adult which one you like the best and please justify why.  Can you describe a picture to your grown up and see if they can guess which one you are describing.  Adults please make sure that you child is talking in full sentences e.g. I kike the picture with the colourful lines best because I like the way that the lines criss-cross over each over each other and red, blue, green and yellow are all my favourite colours.

Expressive Art and Design

Today we are going to look at, and be inspired by these pictures, which were painted by Piet Mondrien.  He divided his page into squares and rectangles using thin black lines and then coloured in some of the blocks.  Do you like his paintings?  You might like to try and do a painting or picture in his style?

Maths

This week in maths we are going to play a different game everyday.  If you prefer your child not to be on the screen then feel free to read the calculations aloud for them to write and calculate.

Warm up – play one more – you say a number and your child has to say one more than that number.

Today’s game is subtraction.  Please copy the link into your browser.  To help them calculate either use a numberline to count down or have 20 counters for them to count out and then subtract the appropriate number.

My favourite picture is the one with funny shapes in green red and orange, the shapes look a bit like leaves and it looks like my painting I did yesterday.
