Year 3 – Thursday 26th March 2020

Good morning everyone, we hope you’re ready for some more home learning today. Please remember to spend some time outside, even if it’s for 10 minutes, especially with the sun being so kind to us!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL!

Year 3 have been sent a VERY important mission and we would love for as many people as possible to join in with this.

As you know, we are experiencing a very strange time right now and for some people they are going through this alone without any family or friends around them.

Last night, we were asked if we could do something great for the elderly community in Northampton.

Year 3 have been given an address of a lovely elderly person who lives in a care home and we would love for you to send wonderful pictures, cards and letters to this address through the post to help them through this tough time and put a smile on their face.

All you will need is some pens, paper, an envelope and a stamp!

We would love to see pictures of you drawing or writing letters and then posting them into a post box either on the comments or to our year group email (yearthree@lingsprimary.org.uk). Siblings and other relatives are welcome to join in too.

Year 3 teachers will be joining in with this in the hope that everyone does too!

Here’s the address:

Spencer House Care Home
Room Number 21
The Cheerful Little Letter Project
Cliftonville Road
Northampton
NN1 5BU

We look forward to seeing your pictures and letters being posted!

Mrs Beckwith, Miss Lindop, Miss Barden and Miss Willmer.

Here are today’s tasks!

Maths:

This is a reminder that you can practice your timestables at: https://ttrockstars.com/

Your username and password are in your packs.

Maths Challenge:

Write your biggest equation and answer in the comments section.

Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar:

Task 1:

Make a list of the words you have created using the word machines to add the suffixes.

Write your list of words in the comments.

Task 2:

Verbs! Doing and being words can be really exciting if you make them powerful. They can make your writing much more dramatic and energetic.

Write down two more doing words for each of these actions in the comments:

  1. dash
  2. snooze
  3. learn

Also, how many exciting doing words can you think of for these words?

  1. eat
  2. write

PE:

Joe Wicks is doing daily PE lessons live on his Youtube channel at 9am.
Why don’t you join in and get active with him?

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

If you’ve finished that and still feel like being more active, you can practice for your fitness goals we set.

How many star jumps can you do in a minute?

How long can you hold a plank?

How many squats can you do in a minute?

Time yourself and let us know in the comments section.

Finished all of that? Want something else to do?

British Sign Language:

Every day at 1pm, Natasha and her sister will be teaching the nation some British Sign Language on Youtube.

They started on Monday, so you might want to catch up on that video before you join in today.

Follow this link to find her Youtube channel and click on her video’s called ‘Learn Beginners British Sign Language’

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9w889Lid1JHB-AX4dCoQoQ

BSL is an important skill that you may need to use one day, even if it is just the basics.

Story time:

Want to do some reading but have read all of your books at home?

No problem! Listening to a story is just as good as reading one.

Would it be okay if I did a letter to my nan who is living on her own and has no one else around her instead? I have already drawn her a picture ready to send?

Hi Zack, of course that is absolutely fine! As long as we are doing something for those who are lonely and might need something to put a smile on their faces. Remember to take lots of photos and email them to us. Enjoy the sunshine!
