In maths this week we have been exploring arrays. We have been learning key vocabulary linked to arrays, and using this to record what an array looks like. We have practised drawing arrays and recording them using rows, columns, groups of and lots of. We also looked at how we can use multiplication and addition to describe an array, and how we can use commutative numbers.

Can you describe the array below? How many of our key words from maths can you use? Can you remember what an array is?

An array is when items are arranged in rows and columns. I have shown you my working out, this is it.

    8 x 5 = 40
    5 x 8 =40

    8 groups of 5=40
    5 groups of 8=40

    8 lots of 5
    5 lots of 8
