I hope you are ready for another fantastic day of home learning.

Here are today’s learning activities.

English – Reading

Read the following text and answer the comprehension questions in full sentences.

Silently a group of orphans sleep in an orphanage.
Quietly, the window shutters open and in crawls a mysterious creature.  
He doesn’t look too friendly at first but we soon see what his plan is.

  1. What does silently mean?
  2. Why do you think the creature ‘crawls’ in?
  3. What do you think the creature looks like?- use adjectives to help you describe it.
  4. Can you think of another word to use instead of ‘friendly’?
  5. What do you predict is his plan?

 

English – Writing

Even though you might be tempted to, don’t watch all of it. It will spoil your work for the rest of the week.

 

In full sentences, recall what has happened so far.

Use adjectives and conjunctions in your writing.

 

Sounds – Write Phonics – Focus sound /air/ spelling <ear>  

Review – read the following Year 2 common exception words: hold, only, eye, improve, hour.

Write : Tear, swear, footwear

Dictation: I swear I am wearing my underwear but the bear took my footwear.

 

Maths – Basic Skills

Can you recall the number bonds to 20?

What are the different ways to make 20?

e.g. 13+7=20

 

Maths – Task

Solve the following problems.

 

 

Spelling

Practice spelling the following words.

Use the same ‘copy, copy, copy, cover word and write’ process we use in class.

Here is this week’s Real PE at home lesson for your child to complete. Below we have given you the web address to use as well as the username and password to access the resource. We have also given you a step by step guide on where to access this week’s lesson. Last week’s house winner was Fire.

A bonus challenge this week is to draw your own alien for one of the home planets. We will then judge the aliens and award 1st, 2nd and 3rd. These places will earn 10, 5, and 3 bonus house points and everyone who sends in a picture will also gain a bonus house point.

You will have one week to login and complete the lesson. You can try the activities as many times as you would like, and you can split the activities across the week. Remember every activity you do will earn a point for your house and we will have a house winner at the end of each week. So, we can assign your points make sure to send either a picture, video or score to PE@lingsprimary.org.uk. We would also like to share some of these on our social media channels, so children can see their friends are participating and inspire others to join in the fun. Therefore, when you send your pictures/ videos please let us know if we have permission to do so.

    ENGLISH – READING

    1. What does silently mean? It means quietly.
    2. Why do you think the creature ‘crawls’ in? The creature crawls in, as he does not want to wake the children up from there sleep.
    3. What do you think the creature looks like? The creature looks like, a big hairy fluffy ball. With big long legs and googly eyes.
    4. Can you think of another word to use instead of ‘friendly’? BFF – Best Friends Forever.
    5. What do you predict is his plan? He plan is to have fun with the children and play games and be mischievous.

    ENGLISH – WRITING

    1. What is he doing? The dreamgiver is making all the children wishes come true.

    2. Why is he doing it? The dreamgiver wants to full fill the children’s dream. He wants the children to be happy.

    3. What are the children doing? The children are dreaming of what they want to become when they are older.

    4. Where are they? They are at 2655 Kenzington Avenue.

    5. How do you know? The dreamgiver, checks his book to make sure he is at the correct address.

    SOUNDS – WRITE PHONICS

    True or False

    12 is an odd number?

    False – 10 is a even number and 2 is a even number. Put them together makes 12 which is even.

    Whitney’s number is 18. No it is not the only possible answer, because all the numbers in the 2 times table are even.
    The numbers that will not be possible is odd numbers.

    SPELLING

    Hold, Only, Eye, Improve, Hour.
