Here are your home learning tasks for today. Have a fantastic, fabulous, fun filled Friday!

Miss Battams and Miss Duncan.

English.

Take a good look at these pictures. Can you make your own book and write a story using all of the pictures?

Your story should include:

  • A beginning, middle and end.
  • Time adverbials that tell us when things happen for example afterwards, before, later, the next day.
  • capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
  • Expanded nouns to describe things for example the gloomy wood, the cloudy sky.
  • conjunctions to add more detail and to explain things for example because, so, but.
  • Verbs and adverbs to tell us what is happening and how for example, the girl skipped quickly.

Take care with spelling your Year 2 words and use your phonics sounds to help you with others. you should also try to keep your handwriting neat. you can add picytures to your book too to help you tell the story.

Maths.

Today’s lesson is all about positional language in football. It’s a little different today!
Follow this link to access the online lesson: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zsvgn9q

1. Watch the short videos to learn all about position and how they are described in football using mathematical language.

2. Have a go at activity 1. This is an interactive online task but if you cannot access it online, you can still complete the same activity using the photographs from the online page below. You can write down your answers instead.

3. Have a go at Activity 3. Describing positions and planning a route. You only need to complete level one but you can do more if you would like.

if you cannot access it online, you can still complete the same activity using the photographs from the online page below. You can write down your answers instead.

Phonics.

For phonics we would like you to practice writing out these sentences using your knowledge of common exception word spellings and your knowledge of sound spellings. Ask an adult to read the sentences outloud to you. Repeat the sentence back to your adult and do this a few times to help the sentence stick in your mind. Look at how many words you need to complete each sentence. Then have a go at writing it. You also need to think about the correct punctuation, finger spaces and handwriting.

1. Mr and Mrs Smith would like to paint a wall in their garden.
2. I hope it snows at Christmas so I can make a snowman.
3. I got told a long story about a fast rocket going to space.
4. I don’t have any money to buy a whole fruit pie.
5. The people are making pretty artwork to sell for lots of gold.

Art.

We think some of you might have changed a little bit whilst you’ve been at home.

Have you grown a little bit taller?

Is your hair a little bit longer?

Can you draw us a picture of yourself to show us what you look like now? Remember to choose the colours carefully and to add lots of details so we know it’s you.

We’d love you to email them to us and then we can post them in a special gallery on the blog tomorrow afternoon so all your friends can see you!

PE
It is important to stay active and do a little exercise each day. You could log into the PE using the details below or have a go at the virtual games.

This weeks virtual games is all about football skills. Click on the video to see what you have to do. Don’t forget to let us know how you’ve got on! You can send your scores to PE@lingsprimary.org.uk and earn points for our school.

    ENGLISH

Once upon a time, there was three eggs. Out of the three eggs, one egg hatched and it was a little crocodile. The crocodile was called Billy, Billy could see a small lake and he swam to the lake. He said to himself, tomorrow i am going to go on an adventure around the lake to see what he can find. So when the next day came, Billy got ready for his amazing adventure around the lake and he could see lots of trees, bushes and pretty flowers. Billy stopped as he saw a brown colour bag. Billy thought oh “i wonder what this is”, Billy went towards the brown bag and inside the brown bag was lots of sweets. “Sweets” Billy shouted and how excited he was, Billy was eating one, then two, then three. Billy could not stop and when he looked there was no more sweets left as Billy had eaten all of them. Billy fell asleep next to the brown bag and then suddenly, he stared to feel unwell as his tooth was hurting. Billy said to himself, “i don’y feel well”. Billy tried to sleep by not thinking about the pain, but the pain was getting very painful and was hurting. Billy started moving to see if he could find some help. Billy could see a dentist, Billy went inside the dentist and said to the man, “i don’t feel well”. The dentist said to Billy what is wrong, Billy told the dentist his tooth is hurting and the dentist said to Billy open wide so i can see. Billy opened wide and the dentist said oh Billy have you been eating a lot of sweets. Billy said “no”, the dentist said to Billy are you sure, Billy replied “yes”, ok maybe one or two and then he said very quickly may be the whole bag. Dentist said to Billy “i will have to take your tooth out as it is broken”. The dentist said to Billy you have to stay still, and on the count of three the tooth will come out. Billy and the dentist counted together one, two three and the tooth was out. Billy had no pain and was happy again and told the dentist he will not eat sweets again.
