Year 3 – Friday 22nd May 2020

Good morning everyone!

We are at the end of another half term of home learning.

WELL DONE!

There will be no tasks to complete on the blogs over half term, it’s a time for you all to rest and hopefully spend some time in the sunshine with your families.

If you have a spare minute, all we ask is that you continue to read, practice your spellings and your times tables.

Thank you again for joining in with and completing the daily tasks on the blog.

If you are having a go at the tasks on paper or in books then do let us know what you’ve completed by commenting at the bottom of the page or email us some pictures of your work on yearthree@lingsprimary.org.uk

You might be in with a chance of a certificate after the break!

We hope you have a lovely half term and we will be posting blog work on Monday 1st June at 9am.

Mrs Beckwith, Miss Lindop, Miss Barden and Miss Willmer

Maths:

Today is a little bit different because we are at the end of learning about fractions. Instead of a video, today you are going to get a series of challenges. You might want to use videos from past blogs to help you solve them. Some relate to fractions, some don’t. They are all things you have learned about so far in Year 3.

Today’s work:

Computing:

Rewatch this video and then discuss the questions underneath with an adult at home.

Discuss…

o What were Jessie, Tia and Mo’s power words in the Avelzon game?

o How did the ‘stranger’ trick Jessie and her friends into telling her their power words?

o What did Jessie do when the ‘stranger’ tricked them in the game?

o When did Jessie find out that the ‘stranger’ was really her sister Amber?

o What did Dad tell Jessie, Tia and Mo to do with their power words after they were shared and no longer private?

Now, have a go at copying this picture of Jessie, Tia and Mo and colour it in.

Around your picture write some internet safety advice…

Some examples could be: Be kind online, If you are worried speak to a trusted adult, Don’t give out your full name and personal information.

Finished? Have a go at these activities too…

Daily Riddle:

This week we are going to be posting a riddle a day. As it is half term next week, the answers for today will be revealed at 3pm so you need to check then to see if you have it correct. Involve everybody you can and see who is correct!

Yesterday’s answer: Your name.

Here is today’s riddle:

I’m full of keys but I can’t open any doors.

What am I?

Today’s answer:

Spot the Difference:

Have a go at this spot the difference. There are 9 differences today.   As it is half term next week, the answers for today will be revealed at 3pm so you need to check then to see if you have it correct.

Yesterday’s answers:

Today’s problem:

Today’s answers:

REVEALED AT 3PM!

Hit the button:

We play this game in class all of the time, see how many of your times tables facts you can get right in 1 minute. Remember, in Year 3 you should know your 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times tables.

Story time:

Want to do some reading but have read all of your books at home?

No problem! Listening to a story is just as good as reading one.

This week we are going to be listening to a few chapters from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory each day, if you miss a day you’ll need to catch up!

As it’s half term next week, you can follow the link and carry on listening to the story if you would like to but we will be finishing the story after half term if you don’t want to read ahead.

    READING:
    1) Odin was about 50 years old.
    2) I think the Gungnir could never been broken because it was probably made from steel or gold.
    3) The one main point of this text is Woden Allfather ( or Odin) the highest and the holiest of all Anglo-Saxon gods.
    4) I think this information was written for school learners, like me, so I can find out about the olden Anglo-Saxon gods that people used to believe in.
